Capella Sydney

Overview

Overview

The first Australian property in the Capella Hotels and Resorts portfolio, Capella Sydney, embeds visitors in the beating heart of the city’s commercial, cultural and hospitality precincts. For generations, the Department of Education building stood quietly, its golden facade forming an unassuming backdrop to the rhythm of the city. Reawakened as Capella Sydney in March 2023, the heritage-listed icon, originally designed by Government Architect George McRae in the early 1900s, welcomes guests inside its walls for the first time, setting a global benchmark for luxury accommodation, cuisine and cultural immersion.

192 Guestrooms and Suites are anchored by three ground-level food and beverage offerings; Signature restaurant Brasserie 1930, McRae Bar and Aperture. The ground level also features a collection meeting and event spaces catering for groups of 10 to 80 guests. The Living Room, a signature space of all Capella properties, provides a sophisticated gathering place where in-house guests can partake in daily Capella Rituals and immerse themselves in local culture amid a thoughtful collection of artefacts, while wellness-seeking guests will make their way to level six to discover the world-class health and spa facilities.
