The dam is Bathurst's water supply and recreation area - power boating, water skiing and sailing are permitted.

The dam offers good fishing, cabin accommodation, barbecue and picnic facilities.

There is a free primitive camping area with a maximum of four camp sites, maximum stay is three nights.
