All About

Sydney Whale Watching Cruise

Highlights

Duration: 3 hours

Location: Sydney, NSW

Come aboard 'Bubbles' and 'Explorer' our spacious, comfortable whale watching boats. Meet our passionate, friendly and experienced crew who will take you on an adventure to meet with the whales.

From May to November approximately 50,000 Humpback Whales migrate past Sydney on their annual migration. This cruise allows you the opportunity to get out on the water and see them as they journey past Sydney. These whales are wild animals, they are unpredictable and we cannot guarantee the behaviours you will see on a cruise. To see a full range of humpback whale behaviours we recommend booking more than one cruise. The more time you spend on the water the better your chances of seeing them breach!

Please be assured that our team will do all that they can to get you to the most active whales and improve your knowledge and understanding of these amazing animals.

Inclusions:

  • Whale Sightings Guaranteed - or travel again for free!
  • Experienced, passionate crew who will share live commentary about our wonderful whales!
  • 3 hour cruise departing from Darling Harbour
  • Take in the Harbour sights, travel under The Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House
  • Complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits on the return journey

What's not included:

  • This tour does not include food. All whale watching cruises take you out into the ocean. We do not recommend eating large meals prior to or whilst out on the ocean.

What to bring:

Dress warmly, it is always colder on the ocean, a jacket is a good idea

  • Bring your sense of adventure!
  • Hat and sun protection - although there is an indoor cabin you will want to outside when we are with the whales!
  • Please bring any food you might like with you. We do not sell food or drinks onboard
  • Wear flat soled, comfortable shoes

Itinerary:

  • Board the boat at King Street Wharf 6 and 7, The Promenade, Darling Harbour (King Street Wharf runs parallel to Lime Street and is directly in front of the Malaya Restaurant)
  • Welcome and safety briefing from our crew
  • Cruise out through Sydney Harbour taking in the sights
  • Out through Sydney Heads and into the ocean - this is when the fun of searching for whales starts!
  • Once whales are found, enjoy watching and learning all about them from our wonderful crew
  • Cruise back to the Harbour, enjoy a tea or coffee and a biscuit
  • Disembark the cruise in Darling Harbour with a greater appreciation of just how important whales are to our planet!
  • Check our socials for photos from your cruise taken by our awesome whale photographers.

Important Information

Guidelines

Check-in details

  1. Plan to arrive 20 minutes prior to your departure
  2. Whilst waiting to board have your booking information ready on your phone.
  3. Advise crew of the name that the booking was made in

Special requirements

  • We recommend that if you do not regularly go out on the ocean that you take sea sickness prevention measures. Visit your chemist (Pharmacist and discuss the best option for you)
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Children of any age, including infants require a valid ticket. We do not recommend this activity for very young children as these tours take you out into the open ocean.

Restrictions

  • Please note that pregnancy increases your chance of sea sickness. We highly recommend talking to your health care provider about whether this is appropriate for you.
  • Unfortunately our vessels are not wheelchair friendly. To board both of our vessels you will need to be able to walk and climb stairs.

Extras

During the Humpback Whale Migration (May to November) we also operate whale watching tours from the beautiful Sapphire Coast - departing from Merimbula, Eden and Bermagui. If you are keen for a weekend away then a trip down south is well worth the effort. The whales are next level on the South Coast and during the months of August and September they can often be seen feeding in large numbers.

  • Pricing may change at any time at the discretion of the supplier (prior to purchase). Please see the calendar on this page for the most up to date pricing and information on this experience.
  • Bookings with Fareharbor are subject to the terms and conditions outlined by the tour provider.
