Located along the tranquil waters of Snapper Creek Harbour at Norman Point, Tin Can Bay is one of only two places in Queensland where you can hand-feed wild dolphins. Situated just a 20-minute drive from Rainbow Beach and a popular stop along the Great Sandy Strait, this iconic morning wildlife experience brings you knee-deep into the ocean for a close-up encounter with rare Australian Humpback Dolphins.

Operated by dedicated volunteers at Barnacles Dolphin Centre & Cafe, this ethical, government-monitored interaction lets you meet resident wild dolphins—like Mystique and Patch—in their natural habitat before enjoying a coffee right by the bay.

Key Details

• Operating hours: Daily from 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM (Feeding starts when the dolphins arrive at approximately 7:30 - 8:00am).
• Booking policy: No booking required. Purchase your tickets from the counter at the entrance to the dolphin feeding experience.
• Cost: $15 entry to the dolphin feeding area, then another $5 per person to feed one fish to the dolphins. (Pricing current as of August 2026 and may change at any time at the discretion of the operators).
• What to wear: Shorts or swimwear (you will be wading shin-deep in the water).

Aussie Bucket List Tip: Arrive by 7:00 AM sharp! Because these are wild animals, fish quotas are capped per dolphin to ensure they aren't over fed and don't depend on humans for food. Arriving early guarantees you a spot in line before feeding starts at 8:00 AM. Remember: as tempting as it may be, touching the dolphins is strictly prohibited to keep both you and the marine life safe!
