Overview

Highlights

A terrific place to break up a drive down along Snowy River can be found at Wallace Craigie lookout, just off the road. This vantage point over the most southern precinct of the park offers superb views along the river, and vistas of rugged ranges that are constantly changing throughout the shifting light of day. In winter, you may even see snow fall on the summits.

Bring a packed lunch and find a picnic table beneath the trees. This spot is popular with photographers, so don’t forget to bring your camera for some spectacular shots. Some on-site interpretative material will help you understand what you’re seeing. Wallace Craigie lookout is good to visit at any time of year, though the best time for birdwatching is summer, when a variety of local species circle overhead.

After having your fill of the view, continue south to find a series of riverside spots like Jacobs River campground, where you can get direct access to water for a refreshing swim in the summer months.

Wallace Craigie Lookout is worth adding to your Aussie Bucket List if you enjoy scenic drives and exploring Australia's great outdoors.
